Spring Junior Tennis

Message to the Parents: Through my experience as a player and coach, I hope to create a fun environment for all kids to improve at tennis. Tennis is a very technical sport. It is very challenging to learn new strokes in a group environment. Group situations are more for learning strategy and improving skills that you have already developed as a player. Footwork and general stroke mechanics are taught, but for a player to learn a new habit can be very time consuming. In order to maximize your child's efforts in the sport, I encourage at least 2 hours per day focused on tennis. That includes practicing against a wall, hitting with a ball machine, taking a clinic, camp, or private lesson, keeping score while playing to improve mental toughness or conditioning and eye/hand coordination exercises. When you talk to your child about the game, stress common goals like proper court behavior, hitting a certain amount of shots in a row or making 5-9 out of 10 of a specific shot in practice. This undoubtedly will have the optimum effect on their tennis game.
- Greg Munoz
Head Coach,
George Washington University Men's Tennis

All programs are taught by our division I coaching staff and USPTA/USPTR tennis professionals.

Courts will be divided up based on a combination of age and ability

All programs will offer 4 or 6 students per court.

~ all levels and ages are welcome!

  • Drop off and pick up locations:
    • Pay parking garage
    • Cutout adjacent to the softball field
    • Lower Quad roadway in front of the Acheson Science Center and the Academic Building.
    • Never leave car unattended in any of
these locations, as UPD knows to ticket there; if you need to park and leave your car, the garage is best.

 EMG Academy Goals:

Coaches will focus on ground-strokes, transition game, serves, volleys, scoring and proper behavior. We will also simulate pressure situations in game-like scenarios.
